After two EPs and two albums the next match of the Italian retro-rockers Clepsydra (not to be confused with the same named, already broken up Swiss Prog band) comes around. After the first complete listening, you will feel immediately remembered to the good old days. Ancient rock heroes such as Yes, Hendrix, Yardbirds, Cream and the Beatles have left their mark in the sound of the trio. Relaxing rock dominates the CD (as an example: Love, Caravan for the Sun 3rd), some psychedelic dreamy, sometimes quiet and acoustic, but also in places straight and honest rocking.

All this is supported by the great voice of Fabio di Gialluca who always perfectly knows how to put the feelings and emotions of the songs in the right place. Sometimes you can hear even a little pop, but in a pleasant way (Coffee, Popcorn, and Slip and Sunset in LA). With the song Jimi plays my guitar the guys pay worthy tribute to one of their idols, using WahWah Blues rock. Despite the most parts played fairly quiet, the songs never come to a sense of melancholy, but always a pleasant good-mood-feeling.

Only one thing some of the eleven songs are not quite getting to do, and that is clawing into the listeners ear canals. Due to the conservative composition of some titles, they will pass by almost unnoticed to the listener. This is nothing a party guest will get upset by, when Marmalade Sky is running in the background. And friends of quieter sounds will still have their fun. But if you intentionally listen to this record, the album can make your day a little bit nicer and it awakens with his quotations great memories of ancient times.

Nach zwei EPs und zwei Alben kommt der nächste Streich der italienischen Retro-Rocker von Clepsydra (nicht zu verwechseln mit der gleichnamigen, bereits aufgelösten schweizer Prog-Band). Beim ersten Durchlauf fühlt man sich sofort an die guten alten Zeiten erinnert. Alte Rock Helden wie Yes, Hendrix, Yardbirds Cream und die Beatles haben deutliche Spuren im Klang des Trios hinterlassen. Relaxter Rock dominiert auf der Platte (Love, Caravan for the 3rd sun), teilweise psychedelisch verträumt, manchmal ruhig und akustisch, aber stellenweise auch geradeaus und ehrlich rockend.

All das wird von der tollen Stimme von Fabio di Gialluca getragen, der stets die Gefühle und Emotionen der Songs perfekt umzusetzen weiß. Manchmal geht das sogar ins poppige, aber auf eine angenehme Art und Weise (Coffee, Slip and Popcorn und Sunset in L.A.). Mit dem Song Jimi plays my guitar zollen sie einem ihrer Idole einen würdigen Tribut mit WahWah hinterlegtem Bluesrock. Trotz der großteils recht ruhigen Songs kommt nie eine melancholische Stimmung auf, sondern immer ein sympathisches gute Laune Feeling.

Nur eines schaffen manche der elf Lieder nicht so recht, nämlich sich in den Gehörgängen festzukrallen. Durch die zurückhaltende Komposition mancher Titel, gehen diese am Hörer fast unbemerkt vorbei. Dafür wird sich kein Partygast aufregen, wenn Marmalade Sky im Hintergrund läuft, und Freunde ruhigerer Klänge werden trotzdem ihre Freude haben. Wenn man aber bewusst hinhört, kann einem das Album den Tag eine kleine Ecke schöner machen und es weckt mit seinen Zitaten aus alten Zeiten schöne Erinnerungen.

Black Rainbows

Die Black Rainbows sind zurück und nicht nur der geniale Albumtitel, sondern auch der großartige Vorgänger Carmina Diabolo steigern die Erwartungshaltung gegenüber Supermothafuzzalicous ins Unermessliche. Den ersten Platz für den Albumnamen des Jahres haben sie schon sicher, aber was verbirgt sich wirklich hinter der tollen Schale?

Der Opener Burn Your Nation zwingt einen aufgrund des krassen Heavysounds und des eingängigen Riffs nach nur wenigen Sekunden sämtliche Regler nacht rechts zu drehen und Kopf und Fuß… ach ALLES in Bewegung zu bringen. Von Anfang bis Ende ist mal wieder Abgehen pur angesagt und zum Solo wird direkt die Luftgitarre gezückt – ja, da sind sie wieder, die drei Italiener und sie haben nichts verlernt!

Mit Behind The Line kommt bereits an zweiter Stelle die erste Auskopplung des Albums. Hier wird ein verdammt fetter Groove mit schönen Riffs und Gabriele`s einzigartiger Stimme gepaart, was bereits beim ersten hören ordentlich Eindruck schafft, denn hier ist Bereits der nächste Ohrwurm vorbestimmt.

Nichtmehr groovend, dafür aber recht flott geht es mit Mastermind weiter. Der Song wirkt anfangs recht eintönig, auch wenn er standesgemäß zum Kopfschütteln anregt, bis bei 3:33 ein wirklich tolles Gitarrensolo erklingt, welches recht schnell von Schlagzeug und Bass begleitet wird und somit einen wunderbaren Heavypart einleitet. Ausserdem gibt es endlich mal das wieder, was ich am Vorgängeralbum so geschätzt habe: Diese elend eindringlichen und tausend mal wiederholten Solos, die bei jeder anderen Band schon 30 Sekunden eher geendet hätten und extrem auf den Nerv drücken.

Solar System – alter, was für ein Riff. So einfach und doch so dermaßen eindringlich, dass einfach alle Gliedmaßen in Bewegung sind und auch wenn sich der Song schon vor der Hälfte wieder im Rainbow`s typischem Riffpuzzle verirrt, geht er weiterhin durch Mark und Bein – einfach genial!

Bei dem Titel Lady würde man bei wohl jeder Band der Welt eine Ballade oder immerhin einen ruhigeren Song erwarten, aber daran wird sich die Band wohl niemals probieren. Stattdessen gibts mal wieder die Pure Gitarrengewalt zusammen mit tollem Arschwackelsound und gegen Ende wieder ein ausgedehntes Solo, selbiges gilt für Mother Of The Sun.

Brain Circles greift fast noch einmal das markante Riff aus Behind the Line auf, wirft es aber mal wieder in die Lostrommel und heraus kommt das nächste Puzzlelied, das trotz allem wiederholt volle Wirkung auf Gehör und Nerven geht.

Weiter gehts I Love Rock’n Roll das mal wieder das Gesäß mit fettem Sound zum wackeln bringt und somit seinen Namen absolut zu Recht trägt. Der letzte Song Cosmic Flower Blues bietet trotz eingängigem Sound doch zum Schluss noch einen schleppenden und langsamen Song, durch den sich zwei Minuten das selbe Saitengezupfe zieht und leider endet, bevor der Song sich wirklich aufbauen könnte.

Das Album ist wieder ein typischer Silberling der drei Italiener. Er beinhaltet Heavy-, Space-, Southern-, Stoner- und natürlich Psychrock in den herrlichsten Kombinationen und hat dabei doch immer nur eins im Sinn: Voll ins Gehirn schießen und sämtliche Gelenke in Bewegung versetzen. Und auch wenn das Album vom Sound her etwas mehr Rock’n Roll Flair im Vergleich zum Vorgänger genießt, so ähnlich ist es ihm doch. Das gleiche gilt für die einzelnen Songs, jeder ist eigen und doch sind alle gleich – das hat zum Nachteil, dass sicherlich das Wort “eintönig” nicht ganz fehl am Platze ist, der Vorteil daraus ist allerdings, dass man hier weiß was man bekommt, eine richtig krasse Heavypsychspacesouthernstoner……SUPERMOTHAFUZZALICIOUS Platte!

Kauft das Ding und wenn ihr die Gelegenheit dazu habt, dann im besten Falle auf Platte, denn davon wird es 3 verschiedene (stark) limitierte Farbvariationen inklusive Bonussong geben.

Black Rainbows

The Black Rainbows are back and not only the ingenious album title but also the last album Carmina Diabolo highly increases the expectations for Supermothafuzzalicous. The title already has the first place in every charts of the year, but will the album hit the same?

The opener Burn Your Nation makes you shake your head and feet… no everything of you with his great heavy sound and plausible riffs. It kicks ass from beginning till the end ,and there you will grab your air guitar – yes, they’re back, the three Italians and they have forgotten nothing over the last years!

Behind The Line is the first single release of the album. Fat grooves and nice riffs in combination with Gabriele`s unique voice builds the first earworm and thats already at the second song.

Not groovy, but pretty fast it continues with Mastermind. It sounds a little bit monotonous, but it also proposes to bang your head. At the end a pretty nice guitar solo is to hear which is attended by drums and bass shortly after and they together deliver another pretty heavy track.

Solar System – fuck, what a riff. So simple but also so powerful that all your limbs have to shake! But even if the song gets lost in the “Rainbows`s Riff-puzzle” at half of the song, it also pierces marrow and bones. Just genius.

With a title like Lady everyone expects a ballad or a smooth song, but not with the Black Rainbows! Here you also get the pure guitar force combined with nice ass-shaking sound – the same with Mother Of The Sun.

The riff from Brain Circles is a almost the same as the one of Behind the Line, but the Rainbows do a puzzle again and you’ve got the next great song which stimulates your brain and your ears again.

I Love Rock’n Roll lives up to it’s name – pure ass shaking. The last song Cosmic Flower Blues is a slow and halting song that ends before it can get to his highest level – but why? We need a continuation of that song!

The album is typical for the three Italians. It contains Heavy-, Space-, Southern-, Stoner- and of course Psychrock in the greatest combinations and all of that has only one sense: With full power in your brains and to shake all your limbs. The album has a bit more Rock’n Roll Flair then his predecessor but it also sounds pretty similar. The same applies to the respective songs. From this it follows that you can say, that it is a little bit monotonous, but the advantage of that is, that you get what you want – a very fat Heavypsychspacesouthernstoner……SUPERMOTHAFUZZALICIOUS record!

Das österreichische Fuzz-Monster Parasol Caravan und ihre Brüder im Geiste Cachimbo De Paz starten Donnerstag, den 16. Februar, ihre “Use The Fuzz” Tour mit einem Kozertauftakt in ihrer Heimatstadt Linz. Die Veranstaltung Dient auch dem Release ihrer gleichnamigen Split EP mit Cover Art von Johan Jaccob.

Die von Kritikern hochgelobten vier Jungs von Parasol Caravan versprechen Mitteleuropa mit einwandfreiem Meisterklasse Stoner Rock zu versorgen, unterstützt werden sie dabei von Cachimbo De Paz, einer 3-Mann Psychedelic Combo, deren Musik unter anderem auch physiotherapeutischen Nutzen hat: “Bässe, die dir den Solarplexus massieren, Drums, die dir keine andere Wahl lassen, als dem Groove zu folgen.”

Die unter dem Motto “We Need The Fuzz – Now More Than Ever” (eigentlich: “Star Wars Anspielungen – Jetzt Auch In Deiner Nähe!”) stehende Tour macht zudem am Freitag, den 17. Februar, Halt im legendären Mushroom Cellar in Bayern, um sich dort mit der lokalen Hard Rock Größe Backseat Sue die Bühne zu teilen. Parasol Caravan:”Es dauert nicht mehr lange und wir dürfen den wunderbaren Mushroom Cellar wieder beehren. Wir freuen uns schon wieder wie die narrischen Schwammerl!”  Bereits im Juli hatten Parasol Caravan im Rahmen des Mushroom Jam einen Auftritt in dieser Location.

Im belgischen Leuven werden die beiden österreichischen Bands von Pektop, einer stark an ISIS erinnerden Experimental Band, unterstützt, deren Frontman Adriaan De Raymaeker zusammen mit Mushcream Booking diesen Gig möglich machte. Adriaan sieht in diesem internationalen Austausch und Zusammenarbeit, wie die Musikszene beschaffen sein sollte: “This is how playing music should be, helping each other out. We are very psyched to play with Parasol Caravan and Cachimbo De Paz, it’s always cool to meet new people who have similar ideas towards music. Also the mentality of these guys is great!”

Die Kombination aus beliebten Lokalbands und den frischen Vibes von Cachimbo De Paz und Parasol Caravan sollte die Besucher der “Use The Fuzz” Gigs voll und ganz auf ihre Kosten kommen lassen, Vorbeischauen wird dringendst empohlen!

Erwähnenswert ist unter anderem der bevorstehende Auftritt von Cachimbo De Paz und Parasol Caravan mit den schwedischen Stoner Legenden von Asteroid, am 6. Juni in Wien.

The Austrian fuzz monster Parasol Caravan and their brothers in spirit Cachimbo De Paz will be starting their “Use the Fuzz” Tour with a concert in their hometown Linz on Thursday, the 16th of Februrary. The event will also involve the release of their eponymous split EP with cover art by Johan Jaccob.

The critically acclaimed four guys from Parasol Caravan promise to supply Central Europe with perfectly masterd classic Stoner Rock and are supported on their mission by Cachimbo De Paz, a 3-man Psychedelic combo whose music also serves physiotherapy purposes: “bass that massages your Solarplexus, drums that leave you no choice but to follow the groove. ”

The tour under the motto “We Need The Fuzz – Now More Than Ever” (actually: “Star Wars References – Also Somwhere Near You!”) is also to stop at the legendary Mushroom Cellar in Bavaria on February the 17th, where they will be sharing a stage with the local Hard Rock heroes of Backseat Sue. Parasol Caravan: “Not long and we will be honoring the wonderful Mushroom Cellar again, we are looking forward to it like maniac mushrooms!” Parasol Caravan had made an appearance in this location back in July as part of the Mushroom Jam Festival.
